Point of Pride...

PULITZER PRIZE-WINNING GRADUATES OF PSU

Pittsburg State University can boast of two alumni who have received the Pulitzer Prize: James Tate (BA - English 1965), who won the 1992 Pulitzer Prize in poetry; and Shirley Christian (BA - English 1960), who won the Pulitzer Prize in 1981 for international reporting.

 

 

Faculty Fact...

In addition to being outstanding teachers, Pitt State faculty work at the leading edge of research in grain science, lupus, polymers, and other fields, and they routinely involve students in their research.

 

The College of Arts and Sciences

The combined programs in the College of Arts & Sciences are the largest at Pittsburg State, enrolling more than 50% of all students at the university. The College has more than fifty undergraduate and graduate majors and minors in fourteen departments.

Programs

Most College of Arts and Sciences departments offer a choice of majors or emphases within the department, including B.S.Ed., B.A. and B.S. degrees, and some departments offer degree programs through the Masters level. The Ed.S. degree with a concentration in some of these departments is offered at PSU by the College of Education.
