Nature Reach bicycle ride aims to raise money for animals

04/08/2009

A bicycle ride to raise money for the Nature Reach program at Pittsburg State University is ready for its second run.

The 2nd Annual Bike Ride for Nature Reach will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, at PSU’s Gorilla Village. Registration is $10 per participant, and those who register before April 12 receive a free T-shirt. Registration continues through the morning of the event and T-shirts will be available for purchase there.

The scenic, 10-mile bike ride will include one rest stop at the Natural History Reserve, where participants can take a quick tour of the facility and enjoy an energizing snack.

Sponsored by Tailwind Cyclists, Langdon Lane Animal Hospital, and Wheat State Pizza, the proceeds of the event go toward the feeding and care of Nature Reach’s animal ambassadors.

Nature Reach is also being recognized this month by Pittsburg’s Meadowbrook Mall. During the month of April, all change tossed in the mall fountain will be collected and donated to the program.

Participants of the bike ride can register at Tailwind Cyclists, located at 1511 N. Broadway in Pittsburg. For more information on the ride or on how to donate to Nature Reach, contact Delia Lister at dalister@pittstate.edu or 620-235-4727.
